Another Mila Moment

We were headed to Safford...

That is until Mila decided to get into more mischief.

Jason and I were in the process of getting all of our stuff together to go to Safford for the weekend.  We had our bags on our bed and we started to put all of our stuff in them.  I had put my blood pressure medication in my bag and then as I was in the closet getting clothes, I could hear Mila turning the child proof cap on my medication.  I didn't think anything of it, and just thought she was clicking it.  Well a few seconds later, Jason walked in and noticed she had actually gotten the cap off and had one of the pills in her mouth!  He quickly stuck his finger down her throat to retrieve the pill.  He got it out and noticed that it had teeth marks on the capsule, but the powder was mostly all still in it.  However, we didn't know if she had swallowed any more, so we called Poison Control to see what we needed to do.  They advised us to change her diaper immediately so we could see how much urine she was putting out.  I guess this type of blood pressure pill takes the water out of your system to lower your blood pressure and it makes you pee a lot. (I didn't know that.)  They said she might get dizzy and have a dry mouth.  They wanted us to give her lots of water and juices for the next hour.  The medicine would peak in about an hour and they would give us a call back.  I guess we weren't going to Safford after all...  We decided to head into "town" so that we could be closer to a hospital if she ended up needing medical assistance, but after a couple of hours she seemed fine, so we headed back home.  Poison Control kept calling back every hour just to be sure that everything was OK.  I guess we were lucky and caught her just in time before she could swallow any more.

Carter and Leah were a little upset that we had to wait until Saturday morning to head to Safford, but we wanted to make sure that Mila was really going to be fine before we hit the road.

Anyone want a two year old??  I'm beginning to think I'm horrible mother!

Not a horrible mother...lesson learned!! Children can figure out childproof objects, they are smarter than we give them credit.
