Our Big City Adventure

Jason has been on call for work for the last 3 weekends, so this weekend we decided to do something fun together as a family...That's kinda hard when you have an infant though, so after lunch at Carter's favorite...Ned's Sub Shop, we decided to go and take a ride on the new Light Rail into downtown Phoenix.



It was worth the long line to pay and the crowd of people (probably doing the same thing we were, just checking it out); but we probably didn't pick the best weekend to do it either because of the boat show and the monster trucks both going on downtown. Oh well...

Here we are waiting for the next train. Leah was really nervous and kept saying she wanted to go home.

There were a lot of people, so we held back from taking pictures on the train, but once we got on, Leah loved it. When we first got on, it was standing room only until some people got off. It goes pretty fast and they don't warn you that they're taking off. You really have to ground yourself or have a bar to hold on to or you'll fall down. Carter was the tough guy and was just standing with no hands on the bar. It looked like he was trying to surf. It was pretty funny.

We decided to stop at the Arizona Center and walk around. There wasn't much to see or do there, so we just got ice cream and enjoyed walking around, it was so nice outside.

Here Leah and Carter are feeding the birds with someones left over Subway sandwich. Pretty gross... but they loved it!

We thought it would be fun the see the city from a tall building, so we went in the Sheraton Hotel and went up to the top floor to look out, but there were no windows to view the outside unless you had a room. Bummer!! Oh well, we enjoyed the elevator ride up 31 floors, and the use of their REALLY nice restrooms.

We had such a fun day...Here we are waiting for the train to head back to Mesa.

And Mila was such a good baby ALL Day long....

After we got back to Mesa we went to a few shops on Main Street where we found this cool pink chair.

For dinner I was craving Matta's Mexican food, so we decided to go there since we were pretty close, but it was packed! We decided to go to Peter Piper Pizza and when we got there we couldn't even find a parking space! I asked Jason if he was sure he wanted to attempt it with 3 hungry and tired kids....so we decided to go to Chili's. It was packed too. (I guess it was the night for eating out.) We waited it out and it was well worth it!

Hair Gel

Carter did his hair all by himself today since I had Visiting Teachers here while he was getting ready for school. I wish I would have been able to take a picture of his cute "hair do" that he went to school with...Is all I could do is laugh and tell him he did a good job, since he worked so hard on it. Anyways...he left the hair gel out on the bathroom counter and Leah found it.

I guess when you can't hear your kids, you should probably go and see what they're up to...

Leah's sleepover

My sister's little girl McKenzie stayed the night last night. Leah had a really hard time when it came time to go to bed. I guess you're not suppose to sleep when you have friends stay the night. (It's only going to get worse I'm sure as she gets older. I don't think she'll be like me when I was young... I was ALWAYS the first one to fall asleep when I stayed at someone's house.)

Anyways....This morning I asked the kids to go play in the toy room while I made breakfast. This is how I found Mila when I went to get them.

They put the baby alive hat on her and she didn't seem to mind. She looked so funny.

Leah was also telling Carter and McKenzie "There's no need to panic...We don't have time to panic." I asked her what they're panicking about, and she says "McKenzie got a CD stuck in my cash register, but my dad can fix anything and he'll get it out, so they don't need to panic." I had to laugh...

Leah had lots of fun with her cousin at her pajama party, as she calls it.

School....Can't come soon enough

Carter doesn't go back to school until Thursday and it can't come soon enough. I think Carter and Leah have had enough of each other with no break. They have been non stop with the fighting, arguing, tattling, and hitting the past few days. Yesterday I had a doctors appointment for my blood pressure and it was through the roof. I can explain why.....

Mila - 8 Months Old

Mila....Mila....Pretty baby.....


Mila is 8 months old today and here's what she's up too:

• She's been trying to crawl for the past few weeks and she finally mastered it this week. I'm really not ready for this especially with our stairs. I guess it's time for baby gates.
• She can now sit herself up after laying on the floor.
• She has really become a Momma's girl lately. If she sees me or even just hears my voice she's crying for me.
• She also started pulling herself up on things this week.
• She still hates ALL baby food except for rice cereal and oatmeal. If it doesn't have any flavor SHE LOVES IT!
• She is finally starting to get some hair (even if it is a mohawk).
• She loves her bed! At night you lay her in it and she usually goes right to sleep. I also love to just listen to her on the baby monitor in the mornings. She'll just babble and play until you come and get her.
• She now has 6 teeth and doesn't seem to want to stop anytime soon. She's not a very good teether...she gets fever, runny nose, and gets VERY cranky.
• The girl LOVES ice. If you have a drink, you better be prepared to share...
• She says baba. I don't know if she knows what she's saying but it seems like it's when she wants a bottle... She also has to pull my hair when she drinks a bottle. If Jason's feeding her, she pinches his chin.

Mila has definitely been my most difficult baby thus far, but I wouldn't have it any other way...We're so glad she is a part of our family and enjoy her so much! We all love to see her accomplish the smallest milestones and look forward to her learning even more. I'm going to try and teach her to appreciate her time with daddy and playing on the floor more...we'll see.

This was Mila's second attempt at crawling tonight, so she's a little wobbly. By the end of the night she was doing pretty good.

We were watching Deal or No Deal so it's kinda loud...
